DESCRIPTION
Lubricast 600 was originally formulated to be a refractory coating for gates and risers. Because of the extreme insulating and wear properties in this product, Lubricast 600 has also been found to perform exceptionally well as a refractory mold wash when a smooth finish is required.
APPLICATION
Gates and Risers – Lubricast 600 is generally brushed on as received. Some operators dilute with up to 1 part water and brush thin, multiple coats until the required thickness is obtained. Coating repairs and build-up can be achieved at high temperatures. Chipping, flaking, and loss of coating life sometimes occur when the coating is applied too thick.
Mold Wash – Lubricast 600 should be applied by spray application on the cavity. Thin multiple coats are recommended. Most operators dilute this product with 1 to 3 parts water developing their own techniques to suit each job. The coating is very smooth and sometimes sprayed over a textured base coat to obtain the desired matte finish.
The controlled thickness of the mold coating can equalize solidification rates between thin and thick sections. Lubricast 600 can be readily repaired or modified at high temperatures to help ensure production rates and uniformity.
Ladle Coating – For a ladle coating dilute with equal parts water and spray multiple coats to desired thickness. Dry thoroughly between coats.
NOTE
- Keep a tight seal when not in use.
- Mix the container to uniform consistency prior to use.
- DO NOT FREEZE! The freezing point is 32°F.
